When is the Skerries 10K taking place?

The race will be held on Sunday, March 15th, 2026.

What time does the race start?

The 10K race starts at 9.30 AM. Please arrive early to collect your race number and warm up.

Where does the race start and finish?

The race starts close to Skerries Educate Together National School and finishes in the school grounds, following a scenic coastal route through the town and surrounding areas.

How do I register?

You can register online via Eventmaster.ie. Early registration is recommended as places are limited. Online entry only. No entries at number collection or on race day.

Is the course suitable for beginners?

Yes! The course is mostly flat (every race says that) and scenic, making it ideal for both first-time runners and those chasing a personal best.You can see from the course profile its pretty flat, some small up’s and downs on wide roads, once you reach the promenade its flat for 3-4km. From about 8.5km the incline will come, as you head up the coast road with Argillan Castle in front and the view of the mountains of mourne to your right, the course will bite.

Will the race be chip-timed?

Yes, all participants will receive a chip for accurate timing.

Is there parking available?

Limited parking is available near the race start. We encourage carpooling or using public transport where possible and arrive early. There is parking for approx 250-300 cars close to start line. We would encourage Skerries locals to walk to race start. There are parking options 10-15 mins walk to race HQ. Please do not park in the surrounding estates and respect the residents. Please ensure when you park you leave room for emergency vehicles such as Fire Engines to get past. Please, no ‘county final’ type abandonment of cars :-)

Are there water stations on the course?

Yes, there will be at least one water station along the route (at 6km)and water available at the finish line.

Can I walk the 10K?

Walkers are welcome, but please be aware there will be a cut-off time (11am) for completing the course. Walkers will start at 9.10am and use the footpaths until 9.30am when the roads will close. Please keep left and ensure you allow space for the runners to pass on the right. If you arrive to the white cottages on the course you may be asked to use the footpath. Once on the portion of the coast with no foot path and if all runners are past, you should use the right hand side on the road and walk facing oncoming traffic.

If you intend to walk please advise our wonderful team at number collection so we can expect you at the start line for 9.10am.

Do you have pacers?

Yes, we have race pacers at 40mins, 50mins and 60mins.

Are headphones allowed?

For safety reasons, we recommend not wearing headphones for the following reasons -

  • You can hear emergency vehicles

  • You can hear directions from race stewards

  • You can hear other athletes coming from behind.

  • You can hear and avoid potential accidents with vehicles that may encroach the course.

Will there be prizes?

Yes, prizes will be awarded for top finishers in various age categories.

And last but not least our course record prize fund of €300 each for male and female course records. Please note the course record prize money can only be claimed by one person in the male and female categories. For the avoidance of doubt and in the event that 3 people break the record, the cash pay out is only to the fastest new record time. The current course records are 33.10 (male) and 37.50 (female)

Is there a medal or t-shirt?

Medals and T shirts can be purchased as additonal items during event registration

Can I transfer my race entry?

If the race sells out we will make the transfer option available in the week in the lead up to the race.

Are there other events on the day?

Yes! The Eurospar 1 Mile and Juvenile Races will also take place — perfect for families and younger runners. U16, U18 and U20

We also have juvenile races from U6 up to U14 on the day.

Who is organising the event?

The race is proudly organised by Skerries Athletic Club

Can I collect my bib day before or on race day?

Bib collection will be available from Eurospar, Skerries Point Shopping Centre

- Friday 7-9pm

- Saturday 9am-4pm

- Sunday 7-9am

Is there a Goodie Bag?

Yes, Adult and Kids goodies bags will can be collected in the school hall after the race.

Is there any post race hospitality?

Yes, we would like to invite all our athletes into the school hall after our races for tea, coffee, sandwiches, cake and much more.

Will there be toilets available at the race location?

Yes, there will be 10 portaloo’s, 2 female only portaloo’s and 2 sets of male urinals.

The toilets within the school building will be for available for athletes/public with accessibility requirements.

Will there be a bag drop area?

Yes, within the main hall in the school, it will be unsupervised.

Do we have a charity partner?

Yes, Skerries Youth Support Services who provide vital support services to the kids of Skerries and the surrounding area.

When can I expect my number and T-Shirt in the post?

For those that chose the postal option, postage will commence on Tuesday 3rd March and start to land on doorsteps by Thursday 5th. Please email us after Wednesday 11th March if your postage has not arrived.
